Kundalini Yoga Explained

Kundalini Yoga is a powerful type of yoga that focuses on the energy within the body. Usually, this attention is directed to a specific body area. In the old language, the definition for this type of yoga is known as 'energy' and also as 'coiled' and is likened to the accuracy of a coiled up snake. This energy is said to reside at the bottom of the spine, lying in wait until users tap into the power and let it flow throughout the body. To be able to focus on this energy results in the ability to achieve consciousness of ones inner being on a new level. This consciousness is what is termed as chakras. Within the body, there are seven chakras or energy centers.

These energy centers are said to give those who practice the yoga a system of energy, control or subtle power. The chakras have within them things like the spiritual side, the kindness of a person.

They also help focus on the ability to share verbally and in the way we express ourselves. Chakras is a source of love, strength of character and the resolve to prevail and survive. Kundalini Yoga is not advised for beginners, it is more like the next level for the regular yoga practitioners. The poses used in the yoga are also done with practiced breathing much the same as in other styles of yoga.

As compared to other styles of yoga, the basic objective of Kundalini yoga is to bring into focus the hidden energy and to let it make its way through the body in order to attain a higher form of understanding and enlightenment.

Yoga in whatever form is supposed to bring forth improvements to the mind and body and to the individual's total personality. The Kundalini style of yoga is deemed too powerful for beginners who might not have a full understanding of its precepts and lose control along the way and are therefore advised to seek the guidance and supervision of instructors. The practice of yoga revolves around energy - dormant, coiled and powerful energy that if released uncontrollably into any directions can have unknown repercussions on the physical and emotional well being.

While other styles of yoga do center on several different aspects such as physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, Kundalini Yoga has a strong emphasis on the spiritual. Nonetheless, Kundalini yoga and its class share the common purpose of elevating the standards and meaning of the individual's body and mind.
